ParaBoarding

We had a light wind day on the lagoon in Uruau Brazil. So we busted out the small Rush 2, hooked up some kite lines and had a epic session. The kiteboarder is my little brother Kevin Steen, many thanks to Gregg Mayer for all the rad shots.

Birthday in Brazil

Hey everyone, it is another wonderful day down here in Brazil and it happens to be my 27th birthday. We have been kiting every single day since we arrived here here. The spot we are at is in Uruau about an hour South of Fortaleza. Riki and Gigi have been excellent hosts, they are the owners of ProKiteBrasil.com I have been traveling with my little brother Kevin, Steve (aka grey bush) and Steve’s little brother Gregg. The lagoon that we ride in has been full with some of the best kiters in the world including Arron Hadlow, Jesse Richman, Alberto Rondina and Cam Dietrich just to name a few. These guys are super fun to ride with and also good at taking all my money playing poker at night. Mayer got his paraglider out last night during the sunset session and had some cool kiting and flying on the dunes behind the lagoon. Not 100% sure what the plans are for our remaining 5 days, but I do know tonight is going to be a good time, putting another year under my belt and looking forward to the next one.

Gobble Gobble

Well another year in Turkey is over, the Ozone team was represented in the 10th Annual Oludeniz Airgames by Mike Steen, Carson Klein and Kevin Hintze. Most days were filled with wingsuit flights over the blue lagoon and loading as many bodies as possible on our Magnum Tandem and seeing how far above the glider we could flick ourselves, then taking it deep with our BASE rigs for the crowd. A big thanks to Kevin Hintze for the expert tandem launches with as many as 4 passengers. The Cloud 9 Bar as well for getting us wasted every night, then providing the best cappuccino in Turkey the next morning to help wake us up before we had to go jump out of something. Here are a few pictures, the video will done in the next few weeks. Brazil is the next trip for some kite surfing and paragliding.

Norway Wingsuit Video

Just flying home from Norway seated on the upper deck of a 747, gotta love skymiles! Hope you enjoy the video.

Norway

It is August in Norway and the weather is beautiful! Mattt Gerdes and myself are over here on a Big Wall Wingsuit BASE Jumping mission. After burning through some sky miles and a few cocktails to get to Oslo, it was a short flight to Stavanger and a ferry ride to Lysebotyn. Which is the home of some of the most famous BASE jumping cliffs in the world, Kjerag. The weather was awesome for the first day we were there and we did 2 jumps. Liv Mattt’s girl friend had her first terminal cliff in Kjerag, she did great! With a lousy forecast for the area, we ferried our way back to Stavanger and rented a car. The 12 hour drive North to the Romsdal region was not much fun, but with a little Red Bull and some bacon wrapped hot dogs we made it. Things are pretty low key in this region since the world base race crew has cleared out, which leaves us with some of the biggest cliffs in the world all to ourselves. The Troll Wall which averages around 5000 feet tall was the place where the father of BASE jumping Carl Boenish did some of the first big wall jumps outside of the US in the late 1980’s. After a long approach up the backside of the wall, we arrived at the summit around 7pm. The sheer size of the wall is so impressive, just being up there is a real treat, not to mention that we get to fly our wingsuits from it for well over a minute! It was a truly spectacular jump and we didn’t even get arrested or our gear confiscated, bonus! Stay tuned for the trip video which should be done sometime early in September, as for now we have 5 more days to play in this beautiful country.

Wingsuits with Nitro

Carson Klein, Scott Freeland, Eric Roner and Mike Steen had the chance to fly wingsuits over Heber Utah today for the second season of Nitro Circus. It was super cool and we all can’t wait to see the episode when it airs.

Austria!

Well the last 10 days I spent travelling to every corner of Austria filming foot launched speed flying. Wolgang Pilsch the creator of the internet sensation Streamlined is at it again working on a new project, Airstripped.com If you haven’t seen Streamlined, you can watch it by clicking play below. Mattt Gerdes and I ventured off into areas such as Zugspitze, Grimming, Dach Stein, Krippenstein, Innsbruck, Salzburg and Villach. The weather was less than ideal for the first few days, which made it hard on the film crew and the talent. Between hiking around the Austrian mountains and pioneering some sick lines down those mountains, Mattt and I had a free evening to go to the premier of Brüno in Salzburg, it was amazing to say the least. A big thanks goes out to Wolfgang and the crew for putting everything together and we all look forward to seeing the final product.

Valley Video

Here is the video from Lauterbrunnen a few weeks ago. Enjoy!

Jackson Hole Aerofest

Matt Combs and crew put on another great event in Jackson Hole this past weekend. The weather was less than ideal, but that didn’t stop the Ozone crew from flying every day. Acro Paragliding, Wingsuits, 2-Way Single Parachute skydives from tandems and don’t forget the Taser incident.. Cade Palmer, Matt Coombs, Loren Cox and myself were in town to make the show. A big thanks to Jackson Hole Paragliding and everyone involved with the event. Until next year!

Ozone Demo Team Invades Magic Mountain

Yesterday the Ozone Demo team featuring wingsuits, speed flying wings and paramotors invaded the skies of the Six Flags Magic Mountain Theme Park. The show was a first for the US, featuring custom gear systems to stay legal with the FAA and still put on an amazing show for 6000 spectators. The show was running in tandem with Mat Hoffman’s Thrill show that features inline skating, bmx, moto-cross and the globe of death! In between shows we had the chance to stand in the globe of death with 2 motorcycles screaming around in loops and patterns that would make any one’s head spin. All in all it was a great time and we look forward to coming back and doing it again.
